A lifelong immersion in art eventually led to the ancient technique of mosaics for Hresula Bentsen, a Greek-American artist. Inspired by early visits to Greece, where classical floor patterns and iconography left a lasting impression, she began working with mosaics in 2009. Her practice quickly evolved into three-dimensional work using custom-built armatures, creating a dynamic foundation for her vibrant, contemporary style. Combining traditional materials with natural elements, her work reimagines the mosaic form with powerful color and movement. Influenced by the luminosity of nature, modern painting, and the bold color palette of the 1960s, she brings a fresh, expressive twist to an enduring tradition. Hresula lives full-time and has her studio in Loreto, BCS, she is capable of large scale commissions, contact the gallery for more info and examples of her mosaic murals and commissioned pieces.
